As rumors and gossip about Jay Z’s infidelity fly amidst the release of Beyoncé’s Lemonade, sources say it’s co-written fiction.
Are you tired of hearing about who might be “Becky with the good hair” yet? Well, according to Page Six, she and the rest of the Lemonade narrative are constructions of loosely reality-based fiction made by Jay Z and Beyoncé together.
One source to the newspaper alleged that Jay had been unfaithful before Blue Ivy was born, but that her birth changed everything: “Beyoncé had the baby and was like, ‘What am I doing? This is what my dad did to my mom.’ She really looked at herself. Jay is now a great husband, and this is in the past. They went through a rocky patch but things are good again. The video is about finally coming to terms with her strength and their love.” And added: “They develop these storylines to sell albums. ‘Lemonade’ is a movie crafted to drive sales. Jay and Beyoncé are entertainers at the top of their game. Do you think Jay would release her album on [his own] Tidal if it really was all about him? He is 100% behind this.”
“They’re marketing masters,” Another source told Page Six. “They’re pros at this. The more attention, the more they sell, the better. All that speculation is to get press when they need it. ‘Lemonade’ is much deeper than infidelity, but that’s the focus. As long as people are talking, they don’t care.”
It should be noted that while Lemonade is the third time that the couple have possibly teased trouble in paradise. The adultery narrative threaded throughout their On The Run Tour sparked rumors that their relationship was on the rocks, especially on a date when Beyoncé sang: “Been riding for you for 12 years” – the amount of time they had been together in 2014 – during a performance of ‘Resentment’ instead of six, as the lyrics go.
