Prince was one of D’Angelo’s biggest inspirations.
D’Angelo appeared as the special guest on last night’s (April 26) episode of The Tonight Snow to perform the Prince ballad ‘Sometime It Snows In April’, in tribute to the late star.
With the whole audience bathed in purple light, the Black Messiah singer sat in front of a grand piano to sing the 1986 track, helped out on backing vocals by Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum’s Prince cover band, Princess. Watch the performance below.
This is the second Prince tribute on The Tonight Show this week. On Tuesday night, host Jimmy Fallon and Questlove – who penned a personal essay on Prince for Rolling Stone – shared personal remembrances of Prince with Fallon telling a story about the time Prince challenged Fallon to a game of ping-pong.
Over the weekend, the network paid homage to the singer on Saturday Night Live with their ‘Goodnight Sweet Prince’ special.
There has been an outpouring of artist tributes since Prince’s death last Thursday.
