The rapper has been dropped from the London festival.
Azealia Banks has been removed from the line-up of next month’s Rinse | Born & Bred Festival after the rapper targeted Zayn Malik in a racist and homophobic Twitter rant.
Banks called Malik a “curry scented bitch” during the tirade last night (May 10), which began after she accused him of stealing elements from her ‘Chasing Time’ music video for his recent ‘Like I Would’ video.
Banks had originally been scheduled to headline the festival’s Sunday line-up, but her name has been removed from the bill on the festival website.
In a statement released on Instagram, the festival confirmed the removal of Banks from the line-up, saying that the festival celebrated “inclusivity and equality.”
Acts appearing on the bill alongside Banks earlier expressed their disgust at her Twitter tirade, with Logan Sama saying he would boycott the festival if she wasn’t removed from the bill.
Banks further angered those on the festival bill with a tweet this morning that criticised UK rap, saying that the British scene was “a disgrace to rap culture in general.”
Banks’ rant against Malik is the latest in a string of controversial outbursts from the rapper. As well as endorsing Donald Trump for president, she is facing legal action from Sarah Palin for suggesting the former vice presidential candidate be “gang-banged”.
