London’s premier Only Fools and Horses-inspired producer details his new LP.

Swamp 81 regular Mickey Pearce has announced details of his debut album, set to be released on Loefah’s label next month.

As RA reports, the album was originally intended to be a follow-up to 2014’s Up West beat tape, with the producer deciding to flesh it out as he found himself in “new, melancholic territory.”

Mary Anne Hobbs premiered album track ‘August’ on her BBC 6 Music show last night (May 18). In a statement to Hobbs, the producer explained that the album was made in a short space of time last summer.

Pearce said: “This track in particular just sounds like me in August 2015. I haven’t written anything like it before or since.” Listen back to the show on the BBC website.

Mickey Pearce has been a regular fixture on Swamp 81 since the grime-techno hybrids of 2012’s Don’t Ask Don’t Get 12″. His career goes back to 2008, when he made music as Shortstuff with releases on Planet Mu and Ramp.

Swamp 81 will release Michael in June. While you wait for that, revisit the Mickey Pearce FACT mix from 2012.

The producer will also perform a live set at next month’s Rinse | Born & Bred Festival – more on that here.
