The remix is part of a limited edition cassette.
Ahead of her London Field Day performance on June 12, New York synth-pop artist Empress Of has shared a remix of her ‘Icon’ track by Brooklyn-based producer James Hinton, aka The Range.
For his plumped-up version of the song, Hilton has added piano notes to a scrambled palate of clicks and beats – hear it below.
‘Icon’ is taken from Empress Of’s debut album Me – out now on XL Recordings/Terrible Records – which explores “the isolation an artist experiences when making their art, before it enters the world.”
The remix will be available to buy on tour, as part of a limited edition Empress Of cassette that includes other singles ‘Woman Is A Word,’ ‘Agua Agua’, along with exclusive remixes. It is also available to buy from the Terrible Records web store.
Empress Of plays this year’s Field Day, alongside a host of other names for the festival’s Sunday bill: Air, Adam Green, D.D Dumbo, Empress Of, Fat White Family, Kimmo Pohjonen Skin, Mind Enterprises, Mystery Jets, Steve Mason, The Temper Trap, and many more.
