Alejandro ‘Jano’ Fuentes was shot day after funeral of Christina Grimmie.
Alejandro Fuentes, a Chicago native who appeared on Mexico’s version of The Voice in 2011, died on Saturday following a shooting in the city’s south-west side, according to The Guardian.
Fuentes was apparently ambushed while celebrating his birthday with friends after an armed man ordered him out of his car and, when Fuentes refused to comply, shot him. He suffered three shots to the head late on Thursday and died Saturday. The attack took place in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood where Fuentes had set up an arts studio.
His death came a day after the funeral of Christina Grimmie, who was a contestant on the US version of The Voice. Grimmie was shot and killed a week earlier while signing autographs after a show in Orlando, Florida.
Police are said to be investigating if the attack was an attempted carjacking or robbery.
