The network change their mind on the music-focused series.
HBO have cancelled their ‘70s rock’n’roll drama Vinyl after previously promising a second season.
“Obviously, this was not an easy decision. We have enormous respect for the creative team and cast for their hard work and passion on this project,” HBO said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
It’s a surprise that the network would change their minds suddenly, but not nearly as surprising as when they planned a new season in the first place.
From its reviews to its ratings to its legal trouble, the Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger-produced series was a flop by every metric. They only ran into further trouble earlier this year when co-creator and showrunner Terence Winter was taken off the project.
