The Lemonade artist came on stage to a recording of Martin Luther King Jr.’s I Have a Dream speech.
Beyoncé made a surprise appearance at the opening of the BET Awards last night (Sunday 26), performing ‘Freedom’ with Kendrick Lamar.
Lamar joined Beyoncé onstage to perform the track – taken from the singer’s recent album Lemonade – to a backdrop of fireworks and smoke as the two artists danced and stomped around in a pool of water.
Earlier this month Lemonade collaborator Ingrid Burley revealed that infidelity ballad ‘Love Drought’ is not about Bey’s marriage to Jay Z but Burley’s own experience with Beyoncé’s label Parkwood Entertainment.
