Horror maestro George A. Romero will also be honoured by Hollywood next year.
The Omen composer Jerry Goldsmith will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2017.
Goldsmith, who died in 2004 at 75, was awarded an Oscar for his eerie 1976 score, which uses avant-garde choral arrangements and Latin chanting to invoke devil worship in the horror classic.
The LA-born classically trained musician and conductor composed music for nearly 200 films over a 50-year period, including Planet of the Apes, Patton Chinatown, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Poltergeist, Basic Instinct and L.A. Confidential, all of which received Oscar nominations.
The ‘Class of 2017’ celebrities were announced by The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday (June 28), with Night of the Living Dead director George A. Romero also among the names chosen to receive a star.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Eva Longoria, Ice Cube, John Legend, Hall & Oates, NSYNC and New Edition will also be honoured next year, while Mexican-American singer Selena will be posthumously awarded.
