The Yonkers rapper heads back to the silver screen.
DMX is no stranger to film-acting. No less than a year after his debut album It’s Dark and Hell is Hot was released did he star in classic music video director Hype Williams’ first feature-length film Belly (which has gone on to achieve cult classic status and has influenced people like Fractal Fantasy’s Sinjin Hawke and Zora Jones).
Today, Deadline reports the rapper has been cast in upcoming indie film Pimp. The movie is about sex workers with a strong emphasis on women’s narratives. Starring Keke Palmer as the titular pimp, the movie will trace the journey she and her girlfriend, played by Haley Ramm (X-Men: The Last Stand), take to make a better life for themselves.
There is no further information on exactly what role X will play in the movie. His most recent have been playing himself in Chris Rock’s Top 5 and on the ABC TV show Fresh Off the Boat.
