Audiophiles everywhere, prepare to be humbled.
Takeo Morita, a Japan-based, 82-year-old man recently installed a personal 40-foot electricity pylon in the hopes of improving the quality of his sound system.
The retired lawyer spent $10,000 for the installation, but said it’s worth it to run his system on the “purest” electricity. Morita’s theory is that by using his own electricity source, he’s avoided any potential interference from a pylon connected to other houses.
“Electricity is like blood. If it is tainted, the whole body will get sick,” he told The Wall Street Journal. “No matter how expensive the audio equipment is, it will be no good if the blood is bad.”
Even more surprising, this is actually a growing trend in Japan. The company behind the installation said they’ve done 40 in the last decade. [Vinyl Factory]
