Let the good times roll.
Funk legend George Clinton is readying a new album for Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label.
Announcing the news in an interview with KCRW yesterday (August 23), where Clinton also performed live alongside Parliament and Thundercat, he revealed that the LP is due “sometime next year.” Brainfeeder and Flying Lotus later confirmed the news via Twitter and explained that details are coming soon.
“We expect to tear the roof off the sucker,” Clinton quipped on what to expect from the album, a nod to Parliament’s 1975 track of the same name.
Back in March, the Kendrick Lamar collaborator revealed that the next Parliament album would be called Medicine Broad Dog, although nothing has surfaced as yet. Clinton’s last record of new material came in 2005 via a double album with the P-Funk All-Stars, How Late Do U Have 2BB4UR Absent?.
The upcoming Brainfeeder showcases will see Clinton performing a series of gigs with Thundercat and Flying Lotus. Ahead of these, Thundercat has released a new single and “comedic ode”, ‘Bus in These Streets’, his first new music since 2015’s The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam.
