Kanye delivered some choice words to Cudi on stage at last night’s Tampa Bay show.
Kanye West has taken aim at Kid Cudi following accusations from the former G.O.O.D Music signee that West and Drake have abandoned him.
The Life of Pablo artist said that he felt “hurt” and “disrespected,” following yesterday’s Twitter rant from Cudi.
“Kid Cudi: we’re two black men in a racist world. I got called names before you, bro,” West said to the crowd during the Tampa Bay stop of his Saint Pablo tour last night (September 14). “Why y’all got to be coming at me? This ain’t the end of the Malcolm X movie. I’m out here fighting for y’all. Don’t ever mention my name in a bad manner. None of y’all. I birthed you. Respect the God.”
Kid Cudi was signed to West’s G.O.O.D Music imprint in 2008 and put out a number of releases, before leaving the label in 2013. He is widely credited with inspiring the chilly, electronic sound of West’s 2008 album 808s & Heartbreak. Yesterday, the Ohio rapper called out “the haters within the industry” in a series of tweets where he also slammed artists who have “30 people write songs for them. Cudi specifically namechecked West and Drake: “My tweets apply to who they apply. Ye, Drake, whoever. These niggas dont give a fuck about me. And they aint fuckin with me.” See a selection of the tweets below.
