One half of the great drone duo unveils a gorgeous solo release.

Koen Holtkamp is best known for blending modular electronics and lush acoustics with Brendon Anderegg in Mountains, something he explores further on a new solo album which you can stream now.

Voice Model takes a similar electroacoustic approach as Mountains, but often pushes towards brighter, prettier extremes over its two side-long “scenes”. Weaving modular synth, electronic processing, cymbals and more alongside flute and trumpet contributions from Nina Mehta and Josh Millrod, respectively, the album rides a twinkling first half leading up to an emotive drone peak. The second half takes a much more energetic approach with Holtkamp modular acrobatics, give the overall release a unique balance.
