One of television’s best shows about rap isn’t going anywhere.
Donald Glover’s placid and excellent FX sitcom Atlanta, which will air its fourth ever episode this week, has already been renewed. A 10-episode second season has been ordered, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which is one more episode than its current season will air.
The show follows Glover’s Earnest “Earn” Marks as he tries to navigate a shitty job and an awkward situation with his ex (who is also the mother of his child) while managing the burgeoning rap career of his cousin Paper Boi. It isn’t packed with the kind of wackiness you’d expect from Glover. Instead, it’s surrealist, measured and packed with quick-witted dialogue and truisms.
