Keys has announced the release date and shared the artwork for her long-awaited next album.
Alicia Keys has shared a new song with A$AP Rocky, titled ‘Blended Family (What You Do For Love).’
Writing on Instagram last night (October 6), Keys said the song is about family: “I’m so excited for you to hear this song. It means so much to me and our whole family. The understanding, compassion and support we’ve found is a powerful testament to the healing that comes when we choose love.”
Keys also namechecks R&B singer Mashonda in the post. The track addresses the reported love triangle between Keys, Mashonda and Swizz Beatz, who was still married to Mashonda when he began a relationship with Keys. It opens up about the task of beginning a new family with Swizz Beatz’ son from his previous marriage to Mashonda.
Meanwhile, Mashonda also shared the track on her own Instagram account, accompanied by the message: “I’m beyond proud of the work that the three of us most consciously applied to bettering ourselves for each other and our children’s sake.”
The song is featured on Keys’ forthcoming album Here, which she announced on Twitter last night. The album, out November 4, is the follow-up to 2012’s Girl On Fire.
