The film is finally full steam ahead.
The road to making the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody has been hard-fought, but the picture is full steam ahead with some new casting: Mr. Robot’s Rami Malek will play the band’s iconic frontman Freddie Mercury.
Variety also confirms that Bryan Singer, of The Usual Suspects and X-Men fame, has been tapped to direct.
The project will be produced by Graham King, who won an Oscar for his work on The Departed. King has been working to get this film made since 2012 when Sacha Baron Cohen was originally slated to play Mercury.
Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor will oversee the film’s music.
