Oh boy!
In 2014, Taylor Swift nixed her country roots to go full pop for her album 1989 – although, many would rightfully argue she was already pop – but she’s now reportedly going for another new angle: R&B.
According to The Sun, a source has said she’s taking her Kendrick Lamar-featuring ‘Bad Blood’ remix to the next level: “Taylor is always looking at ways to grow as an artist and really wants to try something different and unexpected for the next album… The remix of her song ‘Bad Blood’ had a less pop vibe — especially once Kendrick Lamar featured on it — and was a big hit, so she thinks her fans will like her going in this direction.”
This is also reportedly why she’s been seen buddying up to Drake more publicly as of late. Rumors circulated that the two may be in courtship when she flew from a concert in Austin to New York City for his birthday party, but an Instagram post by Drake steered that gossip toward a collaborative, not canoodling, relationship.
“Drake has been her friend for a while and it seemed a no-brainer that she would spend time in the studio with him,” said the source. “As well as writing with Taylor, he’s producing a few tracks and even lent his vocals to one song… It’s a real mix of edgier hip-hop and R&B sounds.”
These rumors add to the long list of people Drake is apparently working on robust collaborative projects with. Following las year’s What a Time to Be Alive, the Toronto rapper has projects with Gucci Mane and Kanye West in the wings.
