The Detroit techno veteran unveils his latest silent film score.
Jeff Mills has provided a new score to George Méliès’ 1902 sci-fi movie classic A Trip To The Moon.
The silent film was based loosely on Jules Verne’s novels From The Earth To The Moon and Around The Moon, and tells the story of a group of early astronauts who are propelled to the moon by a cannon.
As RA reports, a new version of the film with a score by the Detroit techno veteran has just been released on DVD and Blu-Ray by Lobster Films. A CD version of the soundtrack will follow in 2017.
A Trip To The Moon is the latest in a string of original film scores by Mills, who has previosuly soundtracked Fritz Lang’s Metropolis and Woman in the Moon, and Richard Fleischer’s Fantastic Voyage.
Mills will hold a four-date residency at London’s Barbican Centre in June 2017, which includes some of the artist’s most notable tracks reworked for a symphony orchestra.
