Crowe’s actions are being considered “justified”.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney will not be charging actor Russell Crowe after an incident with Azealia Banks earlier this year led her to file a police report claiming he assaulted her, TMZ reports.
In Banks’ police report, she accused Crowe of choking her, spitting in her face and calling her racial slurs at a party he was hosting at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Banks attended as a guest of RZA, who she had recently claimed to sign a record deal with. He released a statement shortly after the news of Banks’ accusations absolving Crowe of fault:
“Azealia threaten to cut a girl in the face with a glass, then actually grabs a glass and physically attacks for no logical reason. Russell blocked the attack and expelled her from the suite. Seeing is believing and I saw her behave as an obnoxious erratic individual and in the circles I frequent this was unprecedented.”
Banks claimed RZA was “gaslighting” her and then appeared on Access Hollywood to detail her experience.
According to information obtained by TMZ, witness say that Banks held up a glass, threatening to slit the throat of another person in the hotel room and that Crowe’s use of force to remove Banks from the party was “justified to prevent the imminent violence.”
