The new wireless earbuds hit physical stores next week.
Apple has finally made its wireless AirPods headphones available for sale, over three months after they were unveiled alongside the iPhone 7.
The $159 headphones went on sale via the Apple website yesterday (December 14), but as MacRumors reports, have already sold out online, with shipping times now six weeks for new orders. According to a press release from Apple, they will be arriving in physical stores next week.
Apple’s AirPods are intended to work with the company’s iPhone 7, which proved controversial when the company revealed it had ditched the traditional headphone jack for wireless connectivity and the Lightning port.
The company called the headphone jack “a dinosaur” when giving its reasons for dropping the headphone jack, saying that it was “time to move on” from the 50-year-old technology.
Apple delayed the release of the product in October, saying: “The early response to AirPods has been incredible. We don’t believe in shipping a product before it’s ready, and we need a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers.”
