A 15-minute acid journey.
Lisbon’s DJ Nigga Fox has been behind some of the most mind-boggling 12″s to come out of the city’s flourishing batida scene. Following up his 2015 EP Noite e Dia, his next release on Príncipe takes a left turn away from his usual hyperactive club tracks.
‘15 Barras’ is a longform composition initially created for an art installation with Príncipe which eventually fell through. Over a menacingly deep bass pulse, Nigga Fox throws in acid squiggles, chopped vocals, crowd noise and bursts of percussion, creating one of his creepiest records yet over the 15-minute side.
The one-sided vinyl 12″ will be released in a limited run of 500, hand-stamped by Príncipe’s Márcio Matos and accompanied by a download.
Due out on January 30, ’15 Barras’ is available to pre-order now from Bandcamp.
