The video was co-directed by Olsen.
Angel Olsen has shared the video for ‘Pops’, taken from her celebrated LP My Woman – one of our favourite albums of 2016.
The video was filmed in Olsen’s hometown of Asheville – a city located in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains – and co-directed by Olsen herself alongside filmmaker Jethro Waters.
Autumnal, brooding and sublime, it sees Olsen take a road trip through winding tree-lined roads as the misty Blue Ridge Mountains slide into view. Finishing up in a dark and moody house, the visual works in contrast to the ‘80s glitz of Olsen’s previous video, ‘Shut Up, Kiss Me’.
Last week, Olsen kicked off the Our First 100 Days charity compilation with new song ‘Fly On Your Wall’. The compilation comes from Secretly Group (which includes labels Jagjaguwar, Secretly Canadian and Dead Oceans) and aims to raise both funds and awareness for organizations threatened by policies from the Donald Trump administration. The project will release a track each day for the first 100 days of the new presidency.
