The film is being made in collaboration with the late rapper’s mom, Voletta Wallace.

An official documentary about The Notorious B.I.G is in the works. The movie has been tentatively titled Notorious B.I.G.: One More Chance and it’s being created in collaboration with Biggie’s mom, Voletta Wallace.

The film was announced at the Berlin Film Festival on Monday (February 13), as Variety reports. It will feature Biggie’s music and explore the impact of his work around the world, though it’s not clear yet what aspects exactly it will focus on.

Notorious B.I.G.: One More Chance will be directed by the Malloys (Emmett Malloy and Brendan Malloy), alongside Biggie’s estate. Submarine – who was recently involved in music documentaries Miss Sharon Jones! and Muscle Shoals – and ByStorm Films are on board to co-produce the film. No release date has been confirmed as yet.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Notorious B.I.G.’s death. Biggie Smalls, real name Christopher George Latore Wallace, died on March 9 1997 at the age of 23 in a drive-by shooting in LA. He left behind two seminal albums – 1994’s Ready to Die and 1997’s Life After Death.

For the anniversary, a number of projects have been announced, including a posthumous duet album with Faith Evans slated for release in May called The King & I. A Johnny Depp-starring thriller centered on the late rapper’s unsolved murder is currently in production, while Biggie will appear as a fictionalized version of himself in the upcoming Tupac biopic, All Eyez On Me.
