The fervent Trump supporter “has name I.D.” according to Republicans.
After Michigan played a key role in electing Donald Trump as President, the state’s GOP is currently strategizing candidates for a Senate run in 2018. As the Detroit Free Press points out, one of those strategies is Kid fucking Rock.
Wes Nakagiri, a Livingston County Tea Party activist who was recently elected to the party’s central committee, suggested the ‘Bawitaba’ singer born Robert Ritchie “has name I.D., is an out-of-the-box idea, and would kind of get rid of that stodgy Republican image.”
Whichever candidate they choose will run against Senior U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow who has served since 2001 and was recently made Chair of the Senate Democratic Policy Committee. She has also never been involved in a lawsuit with Insane Clown Posse.
Aside from being an early and fervent supporter of Trump’s 2016 campaign, Kid Rock’s ‘Born Free’ was used as Mitt Romney’s campaign theme song in 2012. In 2015, Ritchie told fans and protestors alike “kiss my ass” after being asked to cease using the Confederate flag in the wake of the Charleston church shootings.
