Lorde’s first new music in four years is expected to drop this week.
After previewing the first single from her sophomore album on New Zealand television, Lorde has teased more of track that is now thought to be titled ‘Green Light’ with three public displays in Auckland.
The New Zealand artist announced the street displays on Twitter yesterday (February 28), explaining that she had “organised a few little glimpses at what’s coming,” before directing fans to consult the map of central Auckland. The map highlights three separate locations – Herne Bay, Ponsonby and Auckland town hall.
Footage from the Ponsonby location revealed a green-lit old car emitting smoke, with the words “I do my makeup in someone else’s car,” pasted on one of the windows.
At Auckland Town Hall, a green rectangle was projected onto a green-lit wall with the date 3.3.17 NZ written in a black box over the top. A short video also showed two dates, ‘3.2.17 NYC’ and ‘3.3.17 NZ’, while a short clip from what is thought to be the new song can also be heard playing.
Lorde released her debut album Pure Heroine in 2013 and curated the soundtrack for the Hunger Games the following year, but hasn’t released anything as an individual recording artist since 2013.
