The South London artist uses his loose, live, percussive style to make a track in 10 minutes.

Heavily inspired by the LA beat scene, Hector Plimmer makes delicate music that’s full of detail. Recording everything from hip-hop-inspired beats to jazzy instrumentals with live vocalists, he’s even caught the ear of Gilles Peterson.

Plimmer brought a live feel to his Against The Clock, recording his array of drums, percussion and vintage synths straight into his computer, making one of the series’ most effortlessly laid-back tracks yet – despite the pressure.

Listen to the finished track and check out photos of his adorable studio kittens below. His new album Sunshine is released on March 17 by Albert’s Favourites.
