Two Best Of Bandcamp favorites team up.
More Eaze (aka composer Marcus Rubio) and Ben Varian have both provided highlights to our Best Of Bandcamp column for very different releases and now they’ve teamed up for the appropriately titled Split.
Rubio says he thinks of Split as an exploration of applying process music techniques to pop songwriting. That shows on tracks like the skittering ‘Cold Form’, a sound collage made from alternately sped-up and sped-down Lil Yachty samples paired with a particularly mournful violin.
On ‘Dolphin Milk Homeopathic Drops’, Varian shifts from the quick-witted pop of his new album Quiet Fill for a slowly sprawling 13-minute soundscape that develops, as he puts it, “at a subconscious pace.”
