“Motive is still unclear but there are no indications this incident is terrorism related,” say police.
One person has been killed and 14 left injured at a nightclub shooting in Cincinnati, Ohio, reports CNN.
Cincinnati police report that one gunman was involved in the shooting, which took place at the Cameo club along the Ohio River at around 1am local time (March 26).
Assistant Police Chief Paul Neudigate said on Twitter this morning that there was no indication that the incident was terror-related.
Several people have life-threatening injuries, Mr Neudigate told news channel WLWT-TV.
Neudigate added that hundreds of people were inside of the nightclub at the time of the shooting and called it a “chaotic crime scene.”
“We are in the middle of a very horrific situation that occurred at the nightclub with multiple victims,” said Neudigate. “It’s going to be a long night for our homicide units to investigate.”
On its Facebook page, the club describes its Saturday night event as a “grown and sexy night” for people aged over 21. Mr Neudigate also said that his department was “aware” that the club had faced “challenges” in the past.
The shooter is still at-large and police do not have any suspects as yet. The investigation is ongoing.
The shooting comes less than a year after gunman Omar Mateen opened fire at club Pulse, one of the main LGBT venues in Orlando, Florida. Mateen killed 49 people in the deadliest mass shooting in US history.
