It’s the first album under his own name since 2012.

Detroit techno veteran Robert Hood will release his latest album on Dekmantel in May.

Paradygm Shift was announced in early 2016 as a series of three EPs that would evolve into a full album. It will also be the Amsterdam label’s 50th release.

According to the label, Paradygm Shift is a return to the minimal style Hood employed in the early ‘90s and is the “older and more mature brother” to his classic Minimal Nation album.

“The idea behind it is just a shift in our focus. We can become complacent; we are so comfortable with our surroundings,” Hood says in a press release.

“I think this is the time for electronic music to find a new mindset. I felt it was necessary to reiterate as an electronic music artist who is bringing minimalism back in the forefront, and not to get lost in the melody.

“I want to get back to the simple repetitive programming that I’m known for, and to me it was returning to that and shifting the listeners’ focus.”

Paradygm Shift is the first Robert Hood album since 2012’s Motor: Nighttime World 3, but he’s released two albums under his Floorplan alias since then.
