The band’s first record in four years.
French synthpop stars Phoenix have announced their sixth album Ti Amo in a new profile by The New York Times.
The band discuss recording the follow-up to 2013’s Bankrupt! in Paris during “a turbulent time”, citing the refugee crisis, terror attacks such as the Bataclan shooting and a surge of far-right politics in France.
Despite that, the band call their new album “incredibly colorful”, a record inspired by “summer and Italian discos” while rejecting “escapism and denial.”
Though no singles or artwork have been released yet, Phoenix are currently gearing up for a massive world tour to promote the album which is out June 9 via Glassnote.
