The film will focus on Madonna’s early years.

A new biopic based on the early years of Madonna is currently in the works, with Fifty Shades of Grey producer Michael De Luca slated to be working on the project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Blond Ambition will be set in New York in the early ‘80s. The film will focus on the run-up to Madonna’s debut album, as she navigates “a business that treats women badly, while also dealing with a burgeoning love life and the first hints of fame.”

During her prolific three-decade plus career, Madonna has starred in a number of films, including 1985 classic Desperately Seeking Susan.
