Gorgeously warm, soulful deep house.
Bristol’s Idle Hands label played a formative role in Shanti Celeste’s career. They released her second ever single, 2014’s phenomenal ‘Days Like This’, and she also worked behind the counter of the label’s associated shop when it first opened.
Three years later, Celeste is on quite a roll – and it’s fitting that she returns to Idle Hands with her latest single, ‘Make Time’ / ‘Thoughts’. Both tracks hark back to her warm, early sound, ‘Make Time’ with soulful, fragmented vocals and delicate percussive details and ‘Thoughts’ with a meditative drift.
Now based in Berlin, Celeste has released a series of excellent cuts in 2017. February saw her inaugurate her Peach Discs label with the fluttering breaks of ‘Loop One’ and the digital thump of ‘Selector’, while earlier this month she explored her techno side on ‘Hinoki’, half of a split single with Call Super for Dekmantel’s 10-year celebration series.
Stream ‘Hinoki’ below and look for the her new double A-side single on May 26.
