The band’s first album in seven years.
Broken Social Scene have announced the new album Hug Of Thunder, their first full-length since 2010’s Forgiveness Rock Record.
Hug of Thunder is the band’s fifth album and will be released July 7, representatives confirmed to Pitchfork. The album features contributions from Feist, Metric’s Emily Haines and James Shaw, as well as Amy Millan and Evan Cranley of Stars.
The band revealed their new album was done earlier this year alongside the release of the first single ‘Halfway Home’. Frontman Kevin Drew discussed the album on Sirius XMU while premiering the song.
“We wanted this to be unity, and we wanted this record to be all of us. And that’s what it is. At this time and in the state of the world as it is, the one thing we knew we could do is come back as friends,” he continued. “It was important for all of us to come together because it’s the only thing we can politically do at this moment in time.”
